About Mike

I was born and raised in Brookhaven by two veterans who met in the army and taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and education. I worked at numerous places - grocery stores, warehouses, and my father's glass company - until I decided to teach myself programming and climb my way to become a software engineer.

I am running because our local government needs to be brought into the 21st century. I am running because my job - breaking down complicated problems into solutions that average people can use - is something I am good at, and it is something that I would like to do for my community.

Almost all of our problems - unresponsive government, slow-moving layers of bureaucracy, inefficient spending that leads to higher taxes - can be solved with improved technology and intelligent planning.

That is my expertise. So I hope I can have your support as we secure a brighter future for Brookhaven's second district.

About The Job

Town government may seem boring to some: they don't have the power to directly influence whether or not we're allowed to carry guns, or the state of health care.

But how important is your everyday quality of life? The town government plays a direct role in how our communities are built out, how our roads are maintained, services for our youth and seniors, our animal shelter, and our garbage collection.

I'm a programmer for a logistics company; some people might consider parts of my job to be boring. But I don't find anything boring about digging into problems and trying to do things differently and efficiently in order to make processes and lives better.

That is my goal as your councilman in the 2nd district: to make your everyday quality of life better and to make resolving your issues easier.

The second council district, in which I am running, is made up of Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Rocky Point, Sound Beach, Shoreham, East Shoreham, Wading River, and parts of Port Jefferson Station, Middle Island, Terryville, Coram, and Ridge.

Issues

Environment

From our beaches to our Pine Barrens, Brookhaven is rich with natural beauty. We need to proactively fight to preserve that environment and our health by limiting our environmental impact. That means reassessing and improving our current wasteful infrastructure as well as expanding only after smart, eco-conscious planning.

Cost of Living

Living here is already expensive enough, and Brookhaven is looking down the barrel of an affordability crisis. We must reimagine our town by consolidating costs and improving efficiency. Shortsighted planning and outdated systems lead to waste that ends up costing taxpayers more than they should have to pay.

Bureaucracy

Brookhaven's government has become too difficult and inconvenient to navigate. Processes should be simple to understand and even simpler to implement, rather than the maze we have now. What we need are innovative solutions that will turn the town’s red tape into a red carpet for the families and businesses who the town is meant to represent.

Preserving Our History

How we navigate the future of Brookhaven depends on how much we appreciate the past. In building towards a bolder Brookhaven we can’t forget those that came before us, and we must continue to protect their memories. That means doing our due diligence ahead of time and ensuring that expansion and maintenance don't trample on what makes Brookhaven the town we know and love.

Opportunity

A thriving town begins at opportunity. That is why we need to pursue new ideas that will stimulate development and benefit the working-class. New jobs and affordable housing will ensure that there is no shortage of opportunities to thrive in Brookhaven.

Transparency

There is no function of small government that should be invisible to those who live in it. Improved technology and a penchant for honesty and transparency will shine a light on Brookhaven's government, allowing everyone the chance to easily understand how their government is working for them.

Host a House Party

Not only is meeting people my favorite part of running, but it's also the most important. A people-powered campaign depends on exactly that: people! Schedule a get together at your house so I can meet the voters and we can work towards figuring out our solutions together.
